One of the things I did while snowed in was to watch that 3 hour program. It was Wayne Dwyer’s “Excuses Begone”. I watched it twice! (I did the other 2 things as well.) Don’t let excuses hold you back! When you have an excuse ask yourself “Are you sure is it 100% true?” If not, ask “Is the opposite a 100% true?” If neither is 100% true, why not pick the one that will get you closer to your goal. It’s simple and it makes sense.

5 Minutes Daily

Use what he calls the Law of Assumption. “What would my life look like if I couldn’t use these excuses?” Assume you have it. Spend 5 minutes before you go to sleep, not thinking of the bad stuff but of the life you assume you have. Thoughts like: I am healthy and buff. I have enough financial resources to do all I can imagine. I am in a truly loving relationship. You get the idea. Dwyer said “When you correct your mind, everything else will fall into place.

What do you assume you have in your life? What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know.

Write them down

A funny thing happens when I write down my dreams and goals. A lot more of them will become real. It is important for me to get them out of my head and into the game of life. A long time ago, I admitted that I wanted to feel pretty and feminine. It seemed really vain and trivial. After I wrote it on paper, what I realized was that feeling that way did not negate the other important things in my life. I could have both.

Bring your dreams into your daily life

Dreams do not have time limits. You can have a piece of your dreams everyday. Do something that makes you think of them everyday. Make a vision board or share your dreams with others. It helps to bring your dreams to life. Make sure you nurture them and they see the light of day. They will grow and come to fruition soon than you think.

Whether it is food, exercise or career, ask yourself “How does this help me achieve my dreams?” What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know?

And Why?

Ask yourself everyday, “What is working and why?” We can always make a long list of what isn’t working. So spend some time noticing the good things. The glass is half full if you want it to be. You may want to keep a notebook so you can go back and look at your progress.

Notice the changes.

This week, I had 2 experiences that showed I was having success. The first was a pair of pants that I pulled out with my winter clothes. They were BIG. Then I was at 2 places, that I had last visited 6 months ago. I found myself thinking, “I’m not tired” and “This is an easy walk”. I had made consistent changes that were so small over the last 6 months that I couldn’t see them on a daily basis. Oh, my rings are loose too.

Trying on the pants and revisiting these places, gave me the opportunity to do something out of the normal and see the improvement clearly. Take note of the progress no matter how small the change.

Ask yourself, “What is working?” What change can you see? Enjoy your answer. What healthy choice will you make today? Let me know.

Daily Exercise

Does the statement “30 -60 minutes of exercise at least 3x a week” send shivers down your spine? Exercise doesn’t have to be a regimented exercise program. It doesn’t just happen in the gym or in workout clothes. It can be something you can work into your normal daily life.

Getting Started

If it has been a while since you exercised, you can break down your time into 10 or 15 minute chunks several times a day. Start with the functional things that you do everyday that provide a workout for your muscles. It could be walking, climbing stairs, biking, cleaning, yard work or chasing after grandkids or puppies. Then do more of them!

Find something you can do daily or regularly. The BEST workout is the one that you will adhere to. Try to structure your functional exercises so that they fit in with your lifestyle and habits. Now you know why I say a dog is the best exercise you can have. They have to be walked everyday -rain or shine, hot or cold.

Studies have shown that exercise can have a direct effect on preventing heart disease, cancer, and other causes of premature death. Research has also confirmed that aerobic exercise can reduce high blood pressure, obesity, type II diabetes, and osteoporosis.

So start your regular physical activity. Walk more, clean more and play more. Your heart will thank you for it. And so will your body. What healthy change can you make today? Let me know.
